February Flying By!

It seems that every week the Wilde household has had an emergency. Between illness, jury trials, and even the bizarre case of a friend in jail... life is just flashing by!

But there have been great moments of fun and joy. Our little P has 4 teeth and she's chewing on everything for more!

Aside from the buzz of life, things are good. If I could get my sinuses permanently cleared up, I could say that life is great.

In looking ahead, we are getting our garden ready for the coming year. The goal is to plant the first round of seeds on March 4th.

I had a dream last night about my grandmother and her garden. It left me with the most wonderful feeling in the morning and a strong desire to make a large garden like she had. I miss her. And I want to honor the good she did in this world by continuing it.

Well, those are my thoughts for tonight.

Enjoy the last 10 days of February!

These Orange Rolls are the best thing I've eaten this month.

Looking Down

Ahhh! Why is it that as soon as I feel unstressed I get stressed again?

Next Week:

Trial on Monday

Trial on Thursday

I'll be seeing a lot of this in the wee morning hours:

But then again, on the positive: I'll be done with trial by April 7th!

HOORAY!!!

I am not Dead, just nearly dead.

Baylor is on the quarter system. Which means that I had my Constitutional Law final on Thursday and began classes on Monday.

And I'm in the dreaded Practice Court. This means (so far):

  • Class from 7:45-3:30 pm
  • 200+ pages to read every night
  • Kicked out of class and assigned a memo if you don't know what's going on... even if you've read.
  • No sleep. I've been studying from 3:30-12 or 2 am every day. Ick....
  • 9 weeks of this with 5 out of the 70 students failing....
I apologize in advance if I don't blog very often. But I will try to. I have a number of blogs I'd like to write:

  • Campus Radio: Why it's good to have someone edit your great ideas
  • Friends who tell you the truth and why they're awesome
  • How I volunteered myself on the 1st day of class... something unheard of in PC.
  • My best friend is coming to visit me! YAY!

Until I have time to write about this, enjoy this picture (this is me listening to my online research training while I write this blog):

Law School Finals: The Caution

If you want to go to law school, it's great! It's fun! It has weeks of stress!!!
Yup! And this last week was just that. So here's my cautionary tale of law schools.

You may have a week where you look like this:

When you sleep 4 hours a night.

Wear the same clothes.

Eat a unhealthy diet.

This is not the glamorous side of law school. But it makes this day of rest oh so worth it.

Now I'm getting off this stupid schedule.

I slept a good 8 hours last night (1st time since... Jan. 29th?)

I'm wearing different clothes!!! YAY!

I DO NOT want to see or eat these foods for a while:

Kolaches
Pastries or Doughnuts of any kind
Papa John's Pizza
Dr Pepper (yes, I've had too many)

I also lightened my hair! Yay for hard work! Yay for a day of rest!

In Remembrance of My Workout Days- R.I.P.

With finals going on, I haven't been to the gym in a long time. Well, since last week.
Still, I'm eating more because I'm stressed with finals. I'm drinking more carbonated beverages because I'm stressed with finals.

So I want to take a moment and remember the glory days of the gym.

See this cute blister? This is from my spinning class with J. Speaking of J., last week in class he cut his hand (right in-between the knuckles). Blood was everywhere. he was in the middle of teaching class and just kept teaching. Kept pushing up some giant imaginary hill. He's so extreme. I'm always impressed.

But here I sit. Eating my second breakfast like a hobbit. About to review state-action in preparation for my Constitutional Law final tomorrow. Sigh, I'll see you again soon workouts. Someday...

Some days...

Here's a view of the last 3 days:

Thursday/Friday:
5 pm Finish Work
5:30-6:50 Teach ballet
7-8:30 Girl's Camp Kick-off
8:30-3 am Youth Counselor Sleepover
Yes folks, at 3 am I was sitting around talking to a bunch of teen girls about being a leader and I realized that I had to be in court at 8 am. So I shut it down.

7:00 am get up and out the door by 7:30
8:00-2 Court. It was a very unique experience.
2-3 Lunch with el hefe and Russell
3-4:30 Nap Time!
5-11 San Antonio trip for dinner/temple with a group of Kyle Stake Girl's Camp leaders
11 Bed (Finally)

Saturday:
5 am get up and organize ballet costumes.
5:30 check out hike for girl's camp
6:30 Hike Purgatory Creek with the Young Women
We did a geo cache. It was really cool. Pictures to come!
8:00 Realize we're lost. That we've hiked a couple more miles than planned.
9:30 Make it back to our cars. Our awesome bishop was there with breakfast tacos and orange juice. Yum!
10:00 Roll into my driveway where there is a clad of 4-10 year olds waiting to get inside, get into costume, and get their pictures taken for ballet.
I proceed to rangle kids for the next 2 hours in cute poses. ADORABLE! I love teaching ballet. I love to see these girls all dressed up. Pictures to come!
THANKS HIL for taking the pictures! Huge THANKS!
12:30 Put away costumes. Write this blog. Rest my dogs.

Not bad for 3 days! I can't believe I survived. It was one of those times that you plan everything and then when its time you think, "What was I thinking???"

Thanks to all who helped, contributed, etc. Now to go thumpin'

Coming to a Future near me: Good Brie

Bought a Brie Baker. Can't use it for 2 weeks because I am in the middle of a moot court competition at law school (which has also drained my St. Patty's Day cheer).

Still Alive

Russ and I are still alive, we have just been busy. Here's the highlight list:
  • Big 12 game @ Cowboys Stadium. Russ had to report on the Horn's last second win.
  • Christmas in Canada
  • Rose Bowl in Pasadena California. Russ had to report on the Horn's valiant play for the championship. Tough life- he had almost a whole week in California!
  • CLEO Winter-Academic Seminar. Chow had to go to freezing DC for law school exam prep. seminar. But the sweet part was seeing a friend from yesteryear- Katie Coon
Perhaps when things calm down we will post some pictures from these adventures. Let is be said we feel very blessed to have so many opportunities, to have each other, and to have traveled safe. (Thus far. As I write this I'm in the DC airport so... let's hope it goes well!)

Much Love!
Chow
