Finally! Turning 30!

Today is my 30th birthday and I have been ready for it for a while now. I have used up my 20's (post about that is in progress).

It is time for a fresh new decade of life for me to fill up with memories!

I have this...superstition that how you spend your birthday is an indication of how you will spend the next year (or in my case, decade) of life.

So here's the agenda for today:

* Eat delicious food (My husband made me Eggs Benedict for breakfast. So we are off to a good start on that one).

* Spend time with my family, especially my daughters

* Relax at home- no bustling and driving all over tarnation.

* Spend time with friends. Lunch, specifically.

* Go for a run! Just a short one.

* Shower and get myself looking nice.

* Read some of a book.

* Prepare my talk for Church on Sunday.

I think this is going to be the best decade yet!!! Everyone, enjoy my birthday! Do something nice for someone and I'll consider it a gift from you!!!

Worst Wife... Maybe Ever

Russ's Birthday was Thursday.

And all I blogged about was the Oxford Comma.

I didn't get him a present.

I went to my law school classes and role played counseling a client.
(In which role play Russ was a legislative aide for a politician... who had been murdered)

I pulled a major wife failure on celebrating Russ this year.

Today, I attempt to redeem myself by:

1. Planning a simple, but fun, date night tonight.

2. Blogging about my erroneous ways (isn't the first step of repentance acknowledgement?)

3. Letting my husband go on a 7 hour BBQ road trip across Texas (starting at 6:30 am) to get the best BBQ in the state and the best BBQ in the country.

And not minding that he came home and did this:
Overly Excellent BBQ Food Coma

So maybe I'm not the worst wife ever... but I did take a bit of a dip there.

Restart: Beginning with Sunday

I have piles to blog about. But I want to start by blogging about yesterday.

Yesterday was a fun-filled day at the Wilde household.

First, my dear friends for José and Sara Beth came to visit. It was a short visit, because José flew to D.C. today.  Still, we had a lot of fun cooking dinner together, playing games, and just talking. So. Much. Fun.

Secondly, I graduated for the LDS Institute of Religion! I had one class to finish from before my mission and I finally did it. I know this isn't one of those things everyone does, and that most people don't think this is a big deal. But I wanted to finish what I started many years ago. So even though I don't think it makes a huge difference, or that it'll really impress anyone but myself, I'm glad that I finished it!!!

Finally, I was able to celebrate my birthday with the ones closest to me (geographically and personally). I do wish I could celebrate with my siblings, parents, etc. But that's just not possible to do when we live so far apart. So I am grateful that my friends took time out of their day to be with me.

I remember looking into their eyes as they sang me 'Happy Birthday' and thinking, "I am so blessed to have so many friends that care!"

Thank you guys! Such a great day! (Plus Osama was caught and killed! Bonus!).

Well, here are some pictures of the events! More adventures to be blogged about tomorrow.

Meant for Yesterday...

Happy Birthday, Mr. Cash.

Yesterday, as I listened to your 1997 interview on All Things Considered I thought, "here is a man that truly lived and knew what it meant to live".

Thank You for the Music.

And for those of you that share my sentiments, pick up the last album of Johnny Cash's American Recordings here.

Happy birthday!

It's my mom's birthday and since I couldn't be there for cake I
thought I'd post a picture of the freshest ice cream I've ever seen.
Happy birthday mom.
