Spring Break Begins...

I kicked off Spring Break this year with some surgery. I had known this was coming for quite sometime, but with law school being so busy, I didn't really think about it. Before I knew it, the surgery was here.
Check out how it all went!

This is me sitting on the bed in my room. Tiffany and Russ are in here too. We were waiting for a while. They gave me socks and pants and a cool gown that plugged into the wall and filled with warm air.

Finally, they stuck an IV in me (they tried it on the left but the vein spasmed so they stuck it on the right). I think I was pretty nervous at this point. When everyone was ready they wheeled me down to the operating room. The operating room was very intimidating. The giant lights on the ceilings and the tiny little table I had to lay on. I was nervous. I got on the table and the nurse put an additional tube into my vein. "What drug is this, " I asked her. "Versed. It's in the same family as Valium."
That is all I remember from pre-surgery. Next thing I knew I was grunting in the recovery room and the nurse was making me cough, breathe deep, and drink water. I kept wondering how everyone else was feeling. So everytime someone would ask me how I was doing, I would respond with, "How are you?"

This is when they wheeled me back into the room where Russ and Tiff were waiting. I was not totally there at this point. I was in and out of consciousness. I remember Russ helping me get dressed and I thought he was putting on my dress and I got really mad at him for it. Turns out, he was just helping me get dressed.

Then I insisted on this awful picture. First of all, to do the type of surgery I have, they inflate your body with air and gas. So in this picture I sort of look like a float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. But apparently I really wanted to remember this nurse.

Finally I made it home. Tiff and I stayed in these seats for quite sometime. We tried to watch the Academy Awards pre-show but I kept falling asleep.
The soup next to me is from the Soup Peddler, in Austin. Quite tasty.

Tiff and I had a few adventures inbetween sitting in these seats, but I'll post about that tomorrow. For this post, suffice it to say that we spent a lot of time in these seats. Me recovering from surgery, and she being prego and taking care of me.

My mom flew in last night (Saturday night). I was in a LOT of pain that night. A LOT of pain. Even on Sunday morning (today) I was still in A LOT of pain. But I wanted to go to church. So this is my mom putting on my make-up for me to go to church.

There's a little update but there will definitely be more stories to come!

Blast from the Past

I love Russ's friends. They're so cool. I always hear about married couples struggling to blend friends, but I  can honestly say that I love Russ's friends.

Especially when they come to visit! This week we had the opportunity to have Darren, Kristie, and Brookelyn visit us. I was away in Waco for most of the adventures Russ took them on. But they went and had some BBQ in Lockhart, toured San Marcos, and played in Zilker Park. When I finally met up with them, we ate at Chuy's:

Brookelyn colored a fantastic picture:

And then we went to the Texas Capitol Building to walk around and have some good conversation while we walked around.
Plus we posed Brookelyn like a statute:

Thanks for visiting! Next time I'll try to be less-busy so we can play more!

If you come and visit San Marcos....

I will greet you at the airport with a giant sign! (This is me patiently waiting for my mom to arrive. Airport Security only yelled at me one time ).

But you can also shop a TON at the San Marcos Outlet Store. Here we see my mother, who just bought about 5 sweaters, a purse, and some shirts for about $100 from Liz Claiborne. Yup, it was a STEAL!!!

So, what are you waiting for? Come and visit!

Kicking off Christmas in Fredericksburg, Texas

Over Thanksgiving weekend we went to the tree and pyramid lighting in a the cute (and Mormon historical) town of Fredericksburg, Texas. This little German town is adorable! If you're looking for a good place to go to for a honeymoon or a weekend getaway- GO TO FREDERICKSBURG!

Alright, we started off at the Salt Lick, one of the best BBQ restaurants in Texas. It was delicious:

Then we headed to the F-burg. We did a little window shopping, in which I purchased Ms. Twinkle Toes. An ornament made just for me because I love ballet and hippos:

 Find it here.

Next  we grabbed some of the FREE hot chocolate and cookies. Yes, the city gave us free food! We found our spot to see both the tree and the pyramid. Now the pyramid. I bet you're wondering what a pyramid has to do with Christmas. But, as the mayor told us, the Christmas pyramid is a German tradition. And this pyramid was built in Germany and shipped to this town, so it is authentic.

So we find out spot, and the mayor begins thanking everybody who helped. We are then told that we will be singing two Christmas songs in German.

My response: AWESOME!

So we sing "O Tannebaum" and "Still Nacht". There is something wonderful about singing a Christmas song with complete strangers while staring at a dark Christmas pyramid. I loved it. I loved doing it with Russ and his family. It will be a great memory for the years to come!

Finally it was time. We counted down and the tree and pyramid were lit up!

So for the Wilde family it's official! Christmas Season 2010 has begun!

Our (Randy) Wilde Weekend

This weekend Randy became our first sibling to make the trip to visit us. We started the visit at the Shrine of Texas Liberty.

Next we river-walked.

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra was in town to do their show "Beethoven's Last Night".

They classically rocked with lasers.

After dinning on Kolaches, tubing the San Marcos River, and eating ourselves stupid on barbecue we headed to Austin. We hiked (climbed 101 steps) to the top of "Mount" Bonnell.

Next stop the Capitol. Sometimes birds sit on your head.

Randy and Chow were amazed by the dome.

Chow really wanted a Popsicle while we waited to watch the Bats.

After a cupcake we topped off the night at the Alamo Drafthouse (the best place on earth to see a movie). Tonight's feature was "Best Worst Movie". I love documentaries and this is a great one. Check it out if and when it comes to your town.

It was a fast and furious 3 day visit. I left out a lot of details, mostly because I didn't take (or get copies of the) pictures. Good times and then some. Thanks for coming Randy.

Blast from the Past x2

In the above photo, left to right:
Hilary Whitesides (do NOT call her "Hil-billy"), Isis Moran, & myself.

Isis? She's the blast from the past. She was a missionary in this area about a year ago. And about a month ago she came back to revisit her ole running grounds. Isn't she cute? Well she's a smarty pants too. But that's another story.

At this point, reader, you may think, "why do I care?" or "why did Chow post this?"

Here is the answer:
1. I love visitors. I give them their propers for visiting.
2. Do you see my hair? Hello, 70's man-hair!
No way this is going on Facebook.

Thank you for reading.

Cotton Pickin'

After a whirlwind week with the moms they've finally made it home (at
least I assume they have). It was a great visit, we saw and did a lot.
On our way to the airport we visited Christmas town and stopped to
pick some cotton.

What a week

With our last full day with the moms we kept things a little closer to
home. We started the day at the San Marcos Spings. The picture is all
of us looking down into the water. We had classic Texas burgers at the
Center Point Station and watched glass get blow in Wimberley. It been
a great week, we can't wait to do it again.

Happy Thanksgiving

It's Canadian Thanksgiving, we celebrated Sunday with the full meal.
Really sunday was just a good time to relax after a couple days of
touring Central Texas with the moms.

All day Austin

We took the moms all over Austin today. Actually we started in
Lockhart for some prime BBQ. Then it was off to UT to see some history
(hook 'em horns). Upper Crust was our next stop for a naked cupcake.
After that we paid homage to LBJ at his library. Then some sight
seeing, Whole Foods, and millions of bats. I'm ready for sleep.

The stars at night are big and bright

Deep in the heart of Texas. There's no basement in the Alamo. Today
was a day to be a Texas. We river walked with the moms, Alamo'ed, and
went to the temple.

Tourist

My buddy Richy T was in town so we spent the evening seeing the sights
in Austin. We saw the bats, we ate Amy's Ice Cream, and wondered the
original 40 acres. Good night.

Welcome to the hotel...

That's right you too could sleep on a blow up bed. We have a real
guest bed but tonight we have extra guests so we blew this up.

Long day

It's been way too long of a day. I didn't sleep much last night
because my old pal John D slept over. Work was overly long today, and
then I had church stuff. Now I just want to lay my head on my pillow...

Last 4th of July

We hung out with Schroeder in San Antone and saw Transformers.
